In computing and word processing, macros are input instructions that can perform specific tasks. We also create macros to represent equations, characters that our keyboards do not have, or to retrieve documents that we often use.
Photography
In photography, the term stands for macro lens. We use a macro lens to take close-up photos.
Economy
In economics and sociology, macro means global or large scale, as in “macroeconomics” or “at the macro level sociologically (global level, level of large scale)”.
Macroeconomics is a branch of economics that focuses on general or large-scale economic factors. For example, interest rates, unemployment and inflation are macroeconomic factors.
It is in contrast to microeconomics, which is the study of the economic behavior of individual units of the economy, such as a person, household, or company.
nutrition
The term can also refer to macronutrients. Fats, carbohydrates, and proteins are the three essential macronutrients. They have their own functions in the body and provide us with calories and ingredients for tissue repair and building. In nutrition, macronutrients are the opposite of micronutrients. Vitamins and minerals, for example, are micronutrients.
Macro – sequence of keystrokes
In computing, a macro is at least one keystroke that represents an action, a sequence of actions, one or more keystrokes, or mouse clicks.
For example, I can use the control function keys to open the most used documents. Additionally, I can use the control letter keys and the Insert Text action to enter text automatically. This text can be my name, address, email, and phone number.
Microsoft.com has the following definition of the term:
“Macros are sequences of actions (such as keystrokes, mouse clicks, and delays) that can be played back to make repetitive tasks easier.”
“They can also be used to play back long or difficult sequences. You can assign a macro recorded in the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center to a mouse key or button. You can also use the Macro Repeat function to play and repeat a macro continuously, then stop it at any time.
A macro is actually a small but complete computer program. The ones most of us are familiar with are created with an application program such as a word processor.
According to Wikipedia:
“Keyboard macros and mouse macros allow short sequences of keystrokes and mouse actions to transform into other, often more time-consuming sequences of keystrokes and mouse actions.”
“In this way, sequences of frequently used or repeated mouse movements and keystrokes can be automated. The separate programs for creating these macros are called macro recorders.
