New Delhi: Wholesale price-based inflation reduced to 12.07 percent in June as crude oil and food witnessed some softening prices. However, WPI inflation remains in two digits for the third consecutive month in June, mainly due to the low base of last year. WPI inflation is (-) 1.81 percent, in June 2020.
Photographing five consecutive months, the wholesale price index (WPI) inflation in June was softened as the price of food and crude oil articles subsided, although the products produced hardened.
The annual inflation rate was 12.07 percent for June, 2021 (more than June 2020) compared to 1.81 percent in June 2020. The high rate of inflation in June 2021, was mainly due to low basic effects and rose in the price of mineral oil Viz gasoline, diesel (HSD), naphtha, ATF, furnace oil etc., and manufacturing products such as basic metals, food products, chemical products etc. compared to the month according to the previous year, “trade and the Ministry of Industry said.
Inflation in fuel and the power basket fell to 32.83 percent during June, against 37.61 percent in May.
Inflation in food articles also fell to 3.09 percent in June, from 4.31 percent, even as the price of onion surge.
In manufacturing products, inflation reached 10.88 percent in June, against 10.83 percent in the previous month.
