What’s the update on Tesla’s India launch? Elon Musk responds

ELON MUSK, CEO (CEO) of the Tesla vehicle manufacturer, said Wednesday that the company still works with “a lot of challenges” to launch its cars in India.

Musk answered a Twitter user requesting an update on the launch.

“Any additional update as to when Tesla will launch in India? They are quite great and deserve to be in every corner of the world! “The Twitter user said, sharing a photo of a Tesla model.

Musk said in response: “Always working a lot of challenges with the government.”

In August, the electric vehicle giant had received the approval of four India test agencies.

Approval has not reported immediate launch. Tesla sought to reduce import duties in India. The company hopes to put lower price tags on its cars, which is not otherwise possible due to high import duties.

One month after the approval, Tesla had taken the request to lower the import taxes to the Prime Minister’s office, according to Reuters.

Local players opposed the demand for the reduction of Tesla’s tasks, claiming that the move would hurt investments in national manufacturing, the press organization reported.

In India, 100% import duties are imposed on electric vehicles that cost more than $ 40,000 and 60% on vehicles costing $ 40,000 or less. Due to tasks, Tesla Cars could be too expensive for Indian buyers.
